SOUTHPORT MASTERS
Southport Gun Club, Inc. conducts business meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at 7401-75th Street, Kenosha, WI. Meetings are open to the public.
New member candidates are sponsored by an existing club member only. Applicants are interviewed by the members present at the candidate's first monthly meeting. Candidates must attend a second meeting for initiation and training. For insurance reasons, all members must also be National Rifle Association members. All members receive mandatory Range Operations and Safety instruction upon initiation. The Range Operations and Safety instruction are repeated on a regular basis to ensure that all members are current with our range procedures.
FEES
Regular dues are $25.00 per month. Senior dues, age 75 and older, are $5.00 per month. An initiation fee of $70.00 is required to activate new memberships, which includes an electronic entry key. The first three months dues must also be paid by new members upon initiation. Dues are paid on a quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis.
GUESTS
Members may chaperone guests to the range at their convenience. There is a $10.00
per visit per guest fee. Members are responsible for the safety and conduct of their guests.
Members who bring one or two shooters may elect to shoot along with them after the guests
have demonstrated a good understanding and reliable implementation of the basic safety
rules. When sponsoring three to five guest shooters, the officiating member must remain
vigilant of the shooting line at all times. A group of larger than five guests requires at least
one range officer (member) for every five shooters on the line at any one time. Children,
age 12 and under, must be individually supervised by an adult at all times.
Everyone using the range (shooters and spectators) must know the safety
rules and sign a Release and Indemnification Form.
RANGE RESTRICTIONS
Rifle use (other than air guns) is restricted to .22 caliber rimfire only. For handguns, .22 caliber rimfire, .25, .32, .380, .38 Special, .38 Super, 9mm, .40 S&W, .44 Special, and .45 calibers may be fired on this range. Loads are limited to 450 ft/lbs muzzle energy. 10mm, .357 Sig., Casull and all magnum ammo, and any armor piercing, tracer or explosive bullets are strictly prohibited.
Safety is our first policy at Southport Gun Club. Uncased firearms must be unloaded with magazines removed and slides locked back or cylinders open. All shooters and spectators must wear eye and ear protection. All shots must be purposely aimed at a properly placed paper target.
ELECTRONIC SECURITY
The range facilities are protected by electronic monitoring equipment. Each use of a member's electronic entry key is recorded. Member open access is preempted during scheduled leagues, competitions and training programs.
